Preparing Sauna Whisks the Right Way

There is a saying: “A sauna without a whisk is like borscht without sour cream.” It’s hard to argue with that. We, the team of the online store Puidukraam.ee, want you to love the sauna as much as we do.
This time we have prepared a short guide on how to properly prepare sauna whisks so they stay in good condition for as long as possible.
Classic (Birch, Oak, Linden, Rowan, Laurel)
Do not boil them in boiling water: the leaves will cook and become heavy. Dip them in cold water for 15 minutes, then in warm water for 10 minutes. The whisk will be aromatic and elastic.
Juniper, Spruce
These whisks require character. Pour boiling water over them for 20–30 minutes and cover with a lid. The needles will soften, and you will get a healing massage rather than a torture.
Eucalyptus
It’s better not to hit a person with full force, as the leaves are fragile. Simply dip it in warm water and use it for aroma and inhalations.
Bamboo And Artificial
A bamboo whisk does not need to be steamed at all — it is ready to use immediately. And an artificial one? Just rinse it for good measure.
Extra Life Hack: don’t pour out the water in which the whisk was soaked (especially birch or eucalyptus)! Splash some of it onto the stones 😉
And just a reminder: when it comes to whisks — come to us. Visit Puidukraam.ee, go to the whisk section, choose your perfect one, and head to the sauna! In the best possible sense of the word 💨
