It is known for its soft aroma of new-mown grass due to containing coumarin which also scares insects away. It contains essential oils, tanning agents, flavonoids, coumarins, organic acids, vitamins C and A, micro- and macroelements.

Health properties:

Antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effect;
Speeding up the healing of wounds and ulcers;
Relieving pain and nervous tension;
Having spasmolytic and diuretic effect;
Used in case of skin and nervous diseases.

At steam baths, infusions and concoctions of bedstraw are used for aromatherapy, affusions, soaking therapy and pouring over hot stones. It is well-combined with mint, balm and chamomile.

Infusion recipe: pout 0.5 l of boiling water over 2 teaspoons of dry herb, allow it to infuse for 2-3 hours and strain it.

Contraindications: the herb is moderately toxic, so observing the dosage is important. Not recommended for children, pregnant and breastfeeding women and in case of individual intolerance.
